Jouvenceaux – Montgenevre ski crossing

…history, enchanting landscapes and spectacular skiing. In the evening, dinner with raclette in Montgenevre and return by van…

9am transport by van and meeting in the characteristic village of Jouvenceaux, below Sauze d’Oulx. Visit to the beautiful frescoed chapel of Sant’Antonio Abbate.

Once the visit is over, take the four-seater chairlift which leaves directly from the village to go up to its intermediate station. Descending from a splendid track in the larch forest we go to visit the small characteristic village of Grange Tachier, a magnificent example of an alpine settlement. Here there is also an excellent and characteristic refuge-restaurant, a lunch destination for a future trip?

For the rest of the morning we enjoy free skiing on the beautiful sunny slopes of Sauze d’Oulx with some breaks where we analyze together the technique of modern skiing by comparing it with some techniques of the past (even the most historical ones!).

Late morning we take the lift that takes us to the top of Mount Fraiteve (2,702 m), the highest altitude of our trip today and a very panoramic place (magnificent view of the 4,000 meter peaks of the French Ecrins massif, which the guide will show you know).

From there we descend, always along wide and magnificent pistes the slope of the Sansicario ski resort until we reach the Chalmettes where an excellent restaurant-refuge awaits us for lunch (here too an enchanting view: the Monti della Luna and the mountains of the Val di Thures ).

After lunch, a quick descent to Cesana T.se and ascent to Sagnalonga, a village of scattered chalets, in the heart of the Monti della Luna, crossed by various slopes with a romantic and “old style” flavour. The skiing surrounded by chalets and wide rolling landscapes is very suggestive.

We then climb up to Colle Bercia and then descend on the slope of the Claviere station in front of the fascinating silhouette of Mount Chaberton (3,131 m). Stories and history of this mountain, symbolic for the upper Susa Valley.

Another break for modern skiing technique, then once in Claviere we take the lift connection that takes us to the modern Montgenevre station for an end of the day dedicated to the French approach to skiing.

Once our ski ride is over, we relax with an aperitif and immediately prepare for a dinner based on one of the typical dishes of Savoyard mountain cuisine, raclette! After dinner, return by van to the starting point.
